Kamala Harris Inspires Girls, But Knowledge Makes Them Leaders
As Kamala Harris becomes vice president, how do we grow the number of women and women of color in political roles? We teach them young.
The folks at USAMega.com crunched the numbers for each of the states that participate in Powerball, including New York. After factoring in a 8.82 percent state tax and a 25 percent federal tax, the site’s analysts say if a New York resident happens to pick all of Saturday night’s numbers, he or she would be $178.5 million richer if a lump sum payout were selected. The annuity payout over 30 years would net a New Yorker an average of $9.2 million a year. The total payout over 30 years is estimated at $274.6 million.
Powerball is played in 44 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are not great: just 1 in 292,201,338.
So, what if you only match a few numbers, what do you win? Here’s the deal:
- Match 5 numbers and the Powerball number = Jackpot
- Match 5 numbers, not including the Powerball number = $1 million
- Match 4 numbers and the Powerball number = $50,000
- Match 4 numbers, not including the Powerball number = $100
- Match 3 numbers and the Powerball number = $100
- Match 3 numbers, not including the Powerball number = $7
- Match 2 numbers and the Powerball number = $7
